Vikings favored by a TD over Jets
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (The Spread) – The Minnesota Vikings still have a glimmer of hope for a playoff run, and they may be all it needs when it takes on the New York Jets this Sunday.
The Vikings are coming off a 31-13 win over the Panthers at home last week to move to 5-7 on the season and keep their playoff hopes alive. The Vikings have won three of their last five and also played Green Bay to a 3-point loss at home. The Vikings are now 7-5 against the spread this season and they have covered in five of their last six.
The Jets are coming off a 16-13 loss to the Dolphins on Monday night to gall to 2-10 on the season. The Jets put up a fight in the loss, but coach Rex Ryan seems resigned to the fact he will be let go at the end of the season. The Jets are just 3-8-1 against the spread this season despite covering in two of their last three games.
Oddsmakers see the Vikings getting another win at home on Sunday at 1PM ET on CBS, as oddsmakers from Bovada.lv have made the Vikings a 6-point favorite against the Jets (View Matchup). The over/under total for the game has been set at 40.5 points.
This game will likely come down to the play of two young quarterbacks. Teddy Bridgewater and Geno Smith will need to make some throws during this game, and that likely favors the Vikings as Smith is just 148 of 258 passing for 1,524 yards with seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Bridgewater is 173 of 283 passing for 1,827 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in his rookie season.
