Redskins 2012-13 Season Odds
WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Spread) – There’s optimism building in Washington as the Redskins are re-tooling under head coach Mike Shanahan. But can they compete in 2012?
Oddsmakers currently list the Redskins’ odds to win the 2013 Super Bowl at 60/1 and their NFC Championship odds are 28/1. Washington has an over/under of 6 for number of total wins in the 2012 regular season and their odds to win the NFC East are currently 15/2.
The Redskins were active in free agency, signing receivers Pierre Garcon (Colts) and Josh Morgan (49ers), as well as former Bears safety Brandon Meriweather. Washington also re-signed middle linebacker London Fletcher to a new contract.
Of course, the most aggressive move that the Skins made this offseason was trading three first-round picks in exchange for the No. 2 overall selection, which they used to select 2011 Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin. They also selected SMU guard Josh LeRibeus in the third round, and Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins and Texas linebacker Keenan Robinson in the fourth round.
The Redskins should be competitive assuming RGIII lives up to the massive hype that surrounds him. But they play in an ultra-tough NFC East that also features the likes of the Eagles, Cowboys, and defending Super Bowl champion Giants. While the Skins are an improved team overall, it’s hard to envision them challenging for the division or the conference this season.
