What can we expect from the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger vs. the Broncos?

What can Big Ben do today?

Ben Roethlisberger may play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in today’s playoff game against the Denver Broncos, but what can you expect from him?

View NFL Odds

According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Denver is favored in tonight’s game, as the Broncos are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Steelers. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 40.5 points. These two will meet today at 4:40PM ET on CBS.

Roethlisberger injured his throwing shoulder in last week’s playoff win over the Bengals. The Steelers (11-6, 9-6-2 ATS) said Big Ben has a sprained AC joint and torn ligaments in the shoulder, yet he is listed as probable to play today. He wasn’t able to throw the ball downfield late in last week’s game and it’s uncertain just how capable his arm is for this game. Oddsmakers have actually listed the prop odds for Big Ben as “Steelers Quarterbacks” in case he is unable to play much, if at all. The over/under for passing yards by the Steelers is set at 260.5 and passing touchdowns is set at 1.5.

The Steelers face the Broncos (12-4, 8-8 ATS), who are the top seed in the AFC playoffs. Denver has a mean defense, allowing the fewest total yards in the league (283.1 ypg) and the fewest passing yards (199.6 ypg). Roethlisberger has thrown for 3,938 yards and 21 touchdowns this season despite battling a number of injuries. When he faced the Broncos on Dec. 20 at home, he threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns. However, he had a strong arm and a full complement of receivers. Today, Big Ben won’t have Antonio Brown (concussion), the team’s leading receiver. They are also without DeAngelo Williams, the team’s leading rusher. Denver has allowed 261 passing yards or more in just five games this season and only two games at home.
