Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv currently list Newton as the favorite to score the first touchdown for the Panthers tonight. Newton’s odds are 7/2, while tight end Greg Olsen and running back Jonathan Stewart are both 9/2, respectively.

Ted Ginn Jr. has odds of 6/1 to score the first touchdown for the Panthers in Super Bowl 50, while Corey Brown is 8/1 and Mike Tolbert and Jerricho Cotchery are 9/1, respectively. Devin Funchess, meanwhile, is 10/1 while Ed Dickson is 16/1. The Field (any other player on the Panthers’ roster) is 9/1, while “No Carolina TD in the game” has odds of 15/1.

Here’s why there’s value in taking Stewart at 9/2 to score the first touchdown in tonight’s game: No other Carolina player has scored first more than Stewart in 2015 (including playoffs). He’s scored the first touchdown for the Panthers in five games this season, which bests Newton’s four times and Ginn’s three times.

Tolbert has scored first twice for the Panthers this season while Cotchery and Olsen have scored first one time apiece. Defenders Josh Norman and Kurt Coleman also scored first one time apiece in games this season.

So if you’re looking for value, taking Jonathan Stewart  at 9/2 to score the first touchdown for the Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
