Will Brady go to Chandler?
With Rob Gronkowski out today, is Tom Brady going to be looking often to Scott Chandler when the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles?
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, the Patriots are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Eagles. The over/under total for the game has been set at 49 points. These two meet today at 4:25PM ET on FOX.
Brady and the Patriots (10-1, 5-4-2 ATS) haven’t had a lot of luck when it comes to injuries on offense. Last week saw New England lose Gronkowski for a week or two with a knee injury. That may open the door for Chandler, who joined the team in the offseason. This year, Chandler has 19 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns. When Gronk went down last week, Chandler stepped up, finishing with five catches for 58 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Broncos.
When looking at the fact that the Patriots are playing the Eagles (4-7, 4-7 ATS), the first thought would be that the Pats should have their way with them in the pass game. Surprisingly enough, the Eagles are actually very strong against tight ends. Philly has allowed just 468 yards to opposing tight ends and only two touchdowns. From a fantasy football perspective, the Eagles are giving up just the second-fewest points to tight ends in the NFL. So while Chandler could be on the radar for a breakout game, the stats don’t necessarily support that.
