Can Titans stop Gronk?
Still dealing with a slight knee injury, will Rob Gronkowski find a way to help lead the New England Patriots past the Tennessee Titans today?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, New England is the heavy favorite in this game, as the Patriots are getting odds of -14 points against the Titans. The over/under total for the game has been set at 46.5 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET and the game airs live on CBS.
The Patriots (11-2, 6-5-2 ATS) snapped a two-game win streak last week in a win at Houston and the team got Gronk back after a small absence from the field. He had four catches for 87 yards and a TD last week to help lead NE to a 27-6 win. With injuries piling up for the Patriots, including a season-ending injury to LeGarrette Blount last week, Gronk’s role with the team becomes even more important.
For today’s game, Gronk has been given an over/under of 75.5 receiving yards against the Titans (3-10, 4-8-1 ATS). Though Tennessee’s record is poor, the Titans’ defense actually ranks in the top half of the NFL. Tennessee is 13th in total defense (344 ypg) and ninth in passing defense (232.5 ypg). Despite that, Tennessee has had some troubles against tight ends, as they allow the 10th-most points to opposing TEs, giving up 60 catches for 636 yards and 9 touchdowns this year. However, they have held the last four opponents to under 50 yards to tight ends. Gronk has eight games with over 76 yards and he has topped that mark in five of his last seven games.
