Watkins the focus for Buffalo
After a slow start to 2015, Sammy Watkins has emerged as a star receiver for the Buffalo Bills this season. Will he lead Buffalo past the Washington Redskins today?
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Buffalo is favored on the road today, as the Bills are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Redskins. The over/under total for the game has been set at 44 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET and the game airs live on FOX.
Buffalo (6-7, 6-6-1 ATS) is just 1-3 in its last four, but that’s due in no lack of effort from Watkins. The second-year receiver from Clemson is on a real strong streak. He has caught 14 passes over the last three games for 348 yards and four touchdowns. He has definitely become a big-play target, averaging over 20 yards per catch in four games this season. When it comes to today’s game with the Redskins (6-7, 6-7 ATS), oddsmakers have given Watkins an over/under of 4.5 receptions and 66.5 receiving yards.
Washington has plenty to play for, as it is in a three-way tie for first in the NFC East with Philly and New York. The Skins have won two of their last three, but face a tough physical test in Buffalo today, especially trying to stop a playmaker like Watkins. This season, Washington has allowed 2,199 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns to opposing receivers. They have been torched over their last eight games, giving up at least 148 yards to opposing receivers along with 10 touchdowns in that span. That opens the door for Watkins, who has clearly become a top offensive target for Buffalo in the last month.
