Will the Packers and Texans be able to go over 45.5 points on Sunday?

Packers vs. Texans Pick

Will the Green Bay Packers continue to pile up the points when they host the Houston Texans on Sunday at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Packers are favored at home in this game, as Green Bay is getting odds of -6.5 points against the Texans. The over/under total for the game has been set at 45.5 points. The road team has won all three meetings between these two and they have hit the under in two of the three games.

Bet on Texans vs. Packers

Green Bay is coming off a 27-13 win over the Eagles last week. That snapped a four-game losing streak to move the Packers to 5-6 on the year. Green Bay is 6-5 with the over and it has hit it in four of the last five games. The issue for Green Bay is in this recent funk is the defense. The Packers are giving up 26.3 points and 369.3 yards per game. They are allowing 279.1 passing yards per game. Despite the defensive struggles, the offense is putting up 24.9 points and 379.2 yards per game. Aaron Rodgers is putting up big numbers again, as he has thrown for 3,074 yards and 27 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson each have over 700 yards receiving and the two have combined for 17 touchdowns. They are struggling with the run game, as Rodgers is the leading active rusher with 285 yards.

Houston is coming off a 21-13 loss to the Chargers at home to fall to 6-5 on the season. The Texans have lost two straight and they are now 6-5 with the under. Houston has been an offensive mess, posting just 17.6 points and 330.7 yards per game. Brock Osweiler has been disappointing, as he has thrown for 2,307 yards and 12 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. Lamar Miller is leading the offense with 881 rushing yards and three scores. Despite the offensive struggles, the Houston defense has remained strong. The Texans are giving up just 21.5 points and 328.4 yards per game. The unit is led by Benardrick McKinney, who has 101 tackles with four sacks.

The total is somewhat low because of Houston’s struggles. The Texans could have some offensive success against this Green Bay defense, but I expect the Packers to continue their offensive surge. Green Bay has scored at least 24 points in six straight games, including 27 at Philadelphia last week. Look for the Packers to lead the charge and lead these two teams to the over.
