Will the Panthers finish 16-0?
Will the 12-0 Carolina Panthers run the table this season and finish undefeated at 16-0? The odds say no.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the odds that the Panthers finish the regular season 16-0 are 5/2. The odds that they won’t finish 16-0 are 1/4, while the odds that Carolina will win the Super Bowl are currently 8/1.
The Panthers play the Falcons on Sunday and are a 7.5-point home favorite to win that game. After their home date with Atlanta, Carolina will travel to East Rutherford in Week 15 to take on the Giants, followed by a trip to Atlanta to play the Falcons again, then the Panthers wrap up their season at home against the Buccaneers.
Carolina has already clinched the NFC South title this season but is still battling Arizona for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. With how badly the Falcons are slumping (they’ve lost five straight games), there’s a realistic chance that the Panthers can knock off Atlanta twice. The Giants are also struggling to keep their heads above water in a horrible NFC East, so beating New York is also highly realistic.
But if the Panthers have clinched homefield advantage in the playoffs by Week 17, will they rest Cam Newton and other starters when they host the Bucs? If so, will a scrappy Tampa Bay team be the first to knock off Carolina in 2015? It’s going to be intriguing to follow the Panthers over these next four weeks.
