Will the Vikings’ defense shut down Carson Wentz & the Eagles in Week 7?

Vikings vs. Eagles Pick

Will the undefeated Vikings shut down rookie quarterback Carson Wentz and the Eagles when the two teams clash in Week 7?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Vikings are now 3-point road favorites versus the Eagles after opening as a 2-point favorite on Sunday night. As for the total, the number opened at 40 and that’s where it currently sits at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

Bet NFL Week 7 Games

Minnesota enters play coming off its bye and is the only undefeated team in the league a 5-0. The Vikings are seeking to become the third team since the 1970 merger to start 6-0 while allowing fewer than 17 points in each game (the 1981 Eagles and the 1977 Broncos were the other teams). Sam Bradford has won four consecutive road starts dating back to Week 9 last season, which is the longest streak of his career. He has six touchdowns and one interception over that span. Prior to that streak, Bradford was just 8-20 in road starts.

The Eagles have cooled off following a hot start and are now just 3-2 on the year and 3-2 against the spread. Their future opponents are 41-22 this season, which is the toughest remaining schedule in the NFL. That schedule becomes even more daunting without starting offensive tackle Lane Johnson, who was suspended 10 games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancers. In their first game without Johnson, the Eagles didn’t attempt a single rush outside the right tackle.

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 6-0 in the Vikings’ last six road games versus an opponent with a winning home record and is 12-2 in their last 14 games versus an opponent with a winning overall record. The under is also 5-1-1 in Minnesota’s last seven road games, is 16-6-1 in the team’s last 23 games overall, and is 5-2 in the Vikings’ last seven games coming off a win. With Wentz and Doug Pederson’s offense out of sync and the Vikings’ defense playing better than any unit in the league, look for Sunday’s game between these two teams to be low-scoring.
