Cam Newton clear favorite to win MVP

With only three weeks left in the regular season, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is the clear favorite to win the NFL MVP award according to oddsmakers.

Online sports book Bovada.lv currently list Newton as a 1/5 favorite to take home the NFL MVP award this season. Those odds best Tom Brady, who is 7/2 to win the award, as well as Carson Palmer and Russell Wilson, who are both 12/1, respectively, to win take home this year’s honors.

Newton is playing the best football of his career. He has 35 total scores through 13 games and he’ll only add to that on Sunday when he and the Panthers visit the Giants, who employ one of the worst defenses in the league. For the year, he’s thrown for 3,062 yards and 28 touchdowns to go along with a 96.9 rating.

Brady and Palmer have been in the MVP mix for weeks, but Wilson just joined the conversation after four weeks of dazzling play. Over the past month, the Seattle QB has thrown 16 touchdown passes and zero interceptions. After a slow start to the season, both he and the Seahawks are streaking towards another playoff appearance.
