BEREA, Ohio (AP) Browns Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas says Cleveland’s coaching situation will have no bearing on his decision whether to keep playing.
Thomas played in just seven games this season before tearing his left triceps on Oct. 22 and undergoing season-ending surgery. Before that, the 10-time Pro Bowler never missed a snap in his NFL career, playing 10,363 consecutive offensive snaps.
The 33-year-old put off his decision on continuing his career until the offseason. Thomas wants to discuss his future with his family and said he will put his health first and his passion for the game second.
Thomas said he is postponing a decision until after the season because he didn’t want to be a distraction to the Browns, who are one loss away from becoming the second 0-16 team in league history.
Thomas remains supportive of coach Hue Jackson, who takes a 1-30 record with Cleveland into the season finale at Pittsburgh.
