GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard is scheduled to have tests on Monday after he left Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers with a sprained right knee.
“It may be a little while,” Philadelphia coach Andy Reid said. “It’s pretty tender right now.”
Reid said Sheppard would have an MRI on a sprained medial collateral ligament.
Sheppard was hurt in the second quarter. He made two tackles, the last coming when he stopped Brandon Jackson on a 6-yard run with 4:57 to play in the half.
“I don’t think it will be that long,” Sheppard said. “I’m going to get back as soon as I can.”
Philadelphia safety Brian Dawkins said it will be difficult to replace Sheppard, a two-time Pro Bowler with a team-high 14 interceptions in the past three seasons.
“That’s something he and I talked about during the preseason, that he had to stay healthy for the whole season,” Dawkins said. “We have some guys who are capable who can step in, and that’s what we’re going to need to have happen.”
