EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is not going to play this season, according to a video posted to Bleacher Report’s website.
The popular veteran announced that he will be having season-ending surgery on his left calf. The Giants had no immediate comment.
Cruz has not played in a game since tearing a patellar tendon against Philadelphia in October 2014. He reported to training camp, hoping to be ready for the season opener against Dallas. However, he injured the calf in mid-August and never practiced again.
Cruz plans to rehabilitate after the surgery and said his goal is to get back on the field. He told fans not to lose faith in him and that he will see them next season.
