NEW YORK (AP) The New York Jets have claimed safety Ronald Martin off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and released safety Rontez Miles.
The Jets announced the moves Sunday, a day after teams had to pare their rosters to the mandatory 53-player limit.
Martin signed with the Seahawks this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of LSU. He had five interceptions and four forced fumbles in his last three seasons with the Tigers. Martin had 11 tackles and two pass defensed with the Seahawks this summer.
Miles, a fan favorite, had team-leading 23 tackles in the preseason. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown in the second preseason game against Atlanta. Miles spent most of the past two seasons on the Jets’ practice squad.
