BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Connor Shaw only visited with one team before the NFL draft. He may start at quarterback for them Sunday.
Shaw will likely make his first career start in Baltimore for the Browns, who lost Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer to injuries last week. Shaw wasn’t selected in May’s draft, but the Browns liked him enough to sign the former South Carolina QB. Shaw has spent this season watching and learning on the practice squad.
Raised in a ”football family,” Shaw describes himself as ”a tough, gritty guy.” He’ll need to be if he faces the Ravens, who are still fighting for a playoff spot.
Shaw says it would ”be a dream come true” to play this week and would cap a year in which he married his high school sweetheart and the couple welcomed a baby girl.
The Browns placed Manziel on injured reserve Wednesday.
