Capitals vs. Flames Prediction
The Washington Capitals have won three in a row and will look to make it four tonight when they travel to play the Calgary Flames. Is a bet on Washington as the small underdogs the smart way to go?

Capitals upend Blackhawks
Washington secured a 5-3 victory Sunday at Chicago to improve to 6-2-2 on the season with its third consecutive win. T.J. Oshie opened the scoring with a power play goal midway through the first period on an assist from Evgeny Kuznetsov to make it 1-0 through 20 minutes. The Blackhawks tied it up in the second, but a minute-plus later Nic Dowd scored on a shorthanded goal with an assist going to Carl Hagelin to give the Capitais the lead again after 20 minutes. Alex Ovechkin pushed the lead to 3-1 3:54 into the third period with assists going to John Carlson and Michal Kempny. Chicago managed to even it at 3-3 before Tom Wilson scored the go-ahead with at the 8:13 mark on assists courtesy of Hagelin and Lars Eller. Eller added an insurance goal in the final minute on an assist by Dmitry Orlov. Braden Holtby recorded 41 saves on 44 shots in the defeat.
Backlund scores game-winner
Calgary recorded a 2-1 victory Sunday night at Anaheim to move to 5-4-1 on the season. After a scoreless first period, the Ducks grabbed a 1-0 advantage 12 seconds into the second period. But the Flames managed to even it up via a Michael Stone goal at the 4:28 mark of the second with assists going to Johnny Gaudreau and T.J. Brodie. Mikael Backlund added the go-ahead goal with 11:03 on the clock in the third period off assists from Matthew Tkachuk and Austin Czarnik. Cam Talbot secured the win in net as he recorded 29 saves on 30 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
Washington
The Capitals are 10-2 in their last 12 games versus the Pacific Division. Washington is 4-1 in its last five road games.
Calgary
The Flames are 14-3 in their last 17 games versus the Metropolitan Division. Calgary is 1-6 in its last seven games following a win.
Prediction:
The Flames have struggled with consistency since late last season, while Washington is consistently good lately with a nice winning streak as it tries to get back to its 2017-18 peak. While the Capitals still need better goaltending from Holtby, they are receiving world class play from Carlson and having no issues in the scoring department. I like Washington as dogs here to keep that winning streak alive.
