Columbus Blue Jackets Fantasy Spin
Elvis Merzlikins did not get the start on Saturday as coach John Tortorella wanted to go with the goalie who had played during the break. While Merzlikins had the week off because of the All-Star game and the CBA mandated five day break, backup Matiss Kivlenieks was sent to the minors and played. Tortorella wanted Merzlikins to get in an extra practice before getting another start. Look for Merzlikins to play Sunday as the Blue Jackets are in Montreal to play the Canadiens. Merzlikins is 9-6-4 this season with a 2.39 GAA and a .926 save percentage but is 9-2-0 since Joonas Korpisalo went down with an injury just after Christmas.
Montreal Canadiens Fantasy Spin
With his shutout of the Panthers Saturday night Carey Price passed Hall of Famer Ken Dryden on the Canadiens’ all-time shutout list. It was Price’s 47th of his NHL career putting him in third spot behind only George Hainsworth (75) and Jacques Plante (58). Price has started 43 of Montreal’s last 53 games and is likely to get the call Sunday afternoon against the Blue Jackets.
