Blues Season Odds
The St. Louis Blues need a better finish his year if they want to make the playoffs in 2008. Oddsmakers have established the Blues’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 50/1.
As previously mentioned, St. Louis needs to finish better this year if they want to make a run at the postseason. No team had a worst second-half record last season than the Blues’ mark of 11-22-8.
For this club to not suffer a second half crash again this year, head coach Andy Murray will have to keep his young team focused. Lee Stempniak, David Backes and Erik Johnson have to deliver and veteran Paul Kairya has to improve his numbers this year, which has steadily declined over the past couple of seasons.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have listed the Blues’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 70/1. Bodog has St. Louis at 50/1, while Sportsbook.com gives the Blues a 60/1 shot.
The Blues are young and talented, but inexperience will be the thing that keeps them back this year. They certainly have a budding young team and the coaching staff to pull everything together, but the fact of the matter is that the youngsters have to pick things up and Kairya has to perform better. Right now this is just an average club, but one that could surprise given the talent they have. And considering a second-half drop off was what kept them out of the playoffs last year, maybe Murray can keep things together this season and the Blues can make a run.
