Robert Thomas posted two assists in Wednesday’s 4-1 road victory against the Colorado Avalanche. Thomas ended up with a plus-2 rating in his 12:41 of ice time across 19 shifts while winning eight of his 15 faceoff attempts. He was blanked in four of his five meetings against the Avalanche during the 2019-20 campaign, so the two-point night was a little surprising. Thomas posted 10 goals and 42 points last season with a plus-9 rating, so he is a decent low-end fantasy pivot in pools of 12 or more teams. The Blues are back at it on Friday night against the Avalanche.
Colorado Avalanche DFS Spin
Philipp Grubauer allowed four goals on 32 shots in Wednesday’s 4-1 home loss against the St. Louis Blues. The Avalanche are considered one of the favorites to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup at season’s end, but Jordan Binnington and the 2019 champs said don’t forget about them just yet. Grubauer was deemed unfit to play, and missed the first three days of training camp, so a slow start isn’t terribly surprising even though he was able to play. Head coach Jared Bednar expects the Grubauer, the No. 1 backstop, to see 60 percent of the starts, with backup Pavel Francouz seeing the remainder of the outings. It’s likely Francouz gets his feet wet on Friday night in the rematch with the Blues.
Blues vs. Avalanche Prediction
The Blues are 16-6 in their last 22 games versus the Avalanche, are 8-3 in their last 11 road games dating back to last season and are 41-20 in their last 61 games when their opponent scores two goals or less in their previous contest. On the other side, the Avalanche are just 1-4 in their last five home games and are 1-4 in their last five home games as a favorite.
