Marchand guides Bruins to win
Boston earned a 4-3 win Tuesday night at Las Vegas to improve to 3-0-0 on the season. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, David Pastrnak put the Bruins on the board at the 8:39 mark of the first on a goal assist by Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. Marchand tied it at 2-2 with 1:02 to play in the opening period as his power play tally was assisted by Pastrnak and Torey Krug. Marchand scored again 33 seconds into the second period on an assist courtesy of Pastrnak. Krug pushed it to 4-2 less than two minutes later as his goal was assisted by Brandon Carlo and Sean Kuraly. The Golden Knights drew within one goal with 5:18 remaining in the third period, but could not find the equalizer. Tuukka Rask accounted for 31 saves on 34 shots in the winning effort.
Avs double up Wild
Colorado moved to 2-0-0 on the season Saturday night with a 4-2 home victory over Minnesota. Mikko Rantanen put the Avalanche on the board 4:30 into the first period on a power play goal off assists from Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare pushed it to 2-0 a minute-plus later with assists going to Matt Calvert and Valeri Nichushkin. The Wild trimmed their deficit in half midway through the first and tied it at 2-2 with 11:29 left in the second period. Gabriel Landeskog put Colorado in the lead for good on a goal with 1:06 to play in the second off assists by Rantanen and MacKinnon. Ryan Graves added an unassisted empty-net goal with 40 seconds left to put it away. Philipp Grubauer recorded the win in net as he made 29 saves on 31 shots
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The Bruins are 16-5 in their last 21 road games. Boston is 62-26 in its last 88 Thursday games.
Colorado
The Avalanche are 3-8 in their last 11 games versus the Eastern Conference. Colorado is 17-4 in its last 21 home games.
Prediction:
The Avalanche took it to another level at the end of last season and into the playoffs, while it appears unlikely to slow down in 2019-20. Today presents a tough matchup, but the Avs are at home against a Boston team that has been on the road a while. I think this is a good spot for Colorado, especially considering it is a well-rested group having not played in five days. I’m putting my coin on the Avalanche tonight.
