Bruins look for another strong season
The Bruins withstood a number of injuries last season and were never truly healthy, but advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals regardless. Boston finished the regular season 49-24-9 before besting the Maple Leafs in seven games in the first round of the playoffs. The strong run continued in the second round as they downed Columbus in six games before taking down Carolina in a clean sweep. In a back-and-forth seven-game Stanley Cup Finals series, Boston fell short as it lost 4-1 at home against St. Louis in Game 7. Brad Marchand paced the Bruins last year with 36 goals and 64 assists over 79 games. David Pastrnak contributed 38 goals and 43 assists over 66 games. Tuukka Rask enters another season as Boston’s starting goalie after going 27-13-5 last year with a 2.48 GAA and .912 save percentage.
Stars hope to take next step
The Stars went 43-32-7 last season and won its first round playoff matchup in six games over Nashville. Dallas took eventual Stanley Cup champion St. Louis to seven games in the conference semifinals before losing a 2-1 heartbreaker in double overtime on the road to end its season. Tyler Seguin led the Stars in scoring last season with 33 goals and 47 assists, while Alexander Radulov accounted for 29 goals and 43 assists. Ben Bishop will return as starting goalie after a stellar 2018-19 campaign in which he went 27-15-2 with a 1.98 GAA and .934 save percentage.
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The Bruins are 6-1 in their last seven road games. Boston is 60-26 in its last 86 Thursday games.
Dallas
The Stars are 4-1 in their last five games versus the Atlantic Division. Dallas is 5-2 in its last seven Thursday games.
Prediction:
Boston had the better season last year, but Dallas was strong in its own right and very nearly took down the NHL champion Blues. Look for a low-scoring game tonight, but I trust Bishop and the Stars’ defense to bottle up the Bruins and send their fans home happy in the season lid-lifter.
