Bruins win in OT

After losing three straight road games, Boston returned home Saturday night and defeated Columbus by a count of 2-1 in overtime. The Bruins (43-20-9) received the game-winning goal from Brad Marchand 3:30 into the OT on an assist from Patrice Bergeron. It was his 31st goal of the season. Bergeron opened the scoring with a power play goal, his 27th of the season, with 14:09 remaining in the first period. Marchand and David Krejci notched assists. The Blue Jackets tied it up later in the first and the score remained at 1-1 through the next two periods. Jaroslav Halak recorded 24 saves on 25 shots in the winning effort.

Islanders down Wild in overtime

New York secured a 3-2 victory Sunday night at Minnesota to improve to 42-23-7 on the season. Brock Nelson scored his 22nd goal of the season to win it in the extra session off an assist by Mathew Barzal. Jordan Eberle scored the lone goal in the first period off a Barzal assist to put the Islanders up 1-0. After the Wild tied it up in the second, New York regained the lead on an Anders Lee goal on the power player with 3:48 remaining in the period. Devon Toews and Nelson recorded assists. Minnesota evened it at 2-2 with 12:45 left in the third period, which is how it stayed until overtime. Thomas Greiss surrendered two goals on 34 shots in the winning effort.

NHL Betting Trends

Boston

The Bruins are 24-7 in their last 31 Tuesday games. Boston is 16-5 in its last 21 games overall.

New York

The Islanders are 4-1 in their last five games versus the Atlantic Division. New York is 12-5 in its last 17 home games.

Prediction:

The Bruins have struggled lately on the road and New York has one of the best defenses in the NHL. As long as the Islanders can find some timely goals, I think they get the job done here. New York has one less day of rest, but it’s not like it is a back-to-back so it should be fine. Greiss has also been in fine form, not allowing more than two goals in any of his last four contests.
