Bruins edged in Game 5
Boston lost by a count of 2-1 Thursday night at home versus St. Louis in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Following a scoreless first period, the Blues went up a goal in the first minute of the second period and added a second goal midway through the second period. Jake DeBrusk put the Bruins on the board with 6:28 remaining but the hosts could not find the equalizer. Torey Krug assisted on the goal. Tuukka Rask made 19 saves on 21 shots in the defeat.
Blues move within one win of title
St. Louis took a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals Thursday night with a 2-1 victory at Boston. Ryan O’Reilly put the Blues on the board 55 seconds into the second period on a goal assisted by Zach Sanford and Alex Pietrangelo. With 9:24 remaining in the third period, David Perron pushed the advantage to 2-0 on a goal assisted by O’Reilly and Tyler Bozak. Boston cut it to a 2-1 lead a few minutes later, but St. Louis ultimately held on. Jordan Binnington registered 38 saves on 39 shots in the winning effort.
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in St. Louis. The underdog is 2-6 in the last eight meetings.
St. Louis
The home team is 6-2 in the last eight meetings. St. Louis is 6-5 versus Boston the last three seasons.
Prediction:
The Bruins will need a strong performance on the road to keep this going, but they also did a lot well in Game 4 and simply couldn’t solve Binnington more than once. If Boston wins the shots on goal battle decisively again, I’d imagine it keeps its season going with a victory tonight. I think Rask shows up with a strong game and the Bruins get a couple more past Binnington than they did three nights ago.
