Neither of Washington’s first two victories featured the same level of crispness that marked a 120-point season for the ages. Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson helped ignite the power play over the weekend, though, and Steve Mason’s confidence could be something for Philly coach Dave Hakstol to monitor as this affair progresses. The Flyers did manage to pelt Braden Holtby with 42 shots in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat, so perhaps a combination of quantity and superior scoring chances will translate into a different end result at Wells Fargo Center.
