Washington Capitals DFS Spin

Ilya Samsonov surrendered three goals on 29 shots in Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks. Samsonov was dashed for goals in every period on Wednesday, yielding scores to (in order) Noah Gregor, Nicolas Meloche and Jonathan Dahlen. That Dahlen goal was a killer, as it boosted San Jose to a 3-1 lead with just three minutes remaining in regulation. The 24-year-old netminder has been the epitome of average in recent appearances, giving up at least three goals in eight of his last nine journeys to the crease. A Friday matchup with the Stars shows next on Washington’s schedule.

Dallas Stars DFS Spin

Braden Holtby stopped 36-of-37 shots in Tuesday’s 5-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. Holtby faced all kinds of pressure on Tuesday, but he never had to play from behind. The Dallas offense jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and led 4-0 early in the second period, allowing plenty of wiggle room for the veteran netminder. He would surrender a Jesper Bratt goal midway through the second period, but that would be all she wrote in terms of scoring on his watch. Holtby needed a start like this after giving up four goals in each of his previous two trips to the crease. A Friday matchup with the Capitals spots next on the Stars’ schedule.

Capitals vs. Stars Betting Prediction

The Capitals are 7-20 in their last 27 games versus the Stars, are 3-8 in their last 11 games overall and have dropped five straight games versus an opponent that has a winning record. The Stars, meanwhile, are 4-0 in their last four games overall, are 20-7 in their last 27 home games and are 12-3 in their last 15 games following a win.
