Carolina Hurricanes Fantasy Spin
Rookie Andrei Svechnikov has moved to the second line alongside Jordan Staal and Teuvo Teravainen. Svechnikov was thrust into the role when Micheal Ferland was injured yet again and the second overall pick in the 2018 Draft was considered seasoned enough to get the chance. Coach Rod Brind’Amour has been watching the progression of Svechnikov carefully and has given him the chance at this time, almost 70 games into his career. Svechnikov has 17 goals and 32 points this season and there is going to be a huge jump in his fantasy numbers in the next year or two. He is a keeper.
Columbus Blue Jackets Fantasy Spin
Sergei Bobrovsky will start Friday night versus Carolina. Bobrovsky has won three of his last four games. He’s 30-22-1 with a 2.76 GAA and .906 save percentage in 52 starts this season.
Betting Trends
Carolina
The Hurricanes are 6-1 in their last seven road games and are 5-1 in their last six games as a road favorite.
Columbus
The Blue Jackets are 5-2 in their last seven games after scoring five goals or more in their previous game.
Our Prediction
The new Columbus line of Matt Duchene, Josh Anderson and Ryan Dzingel gave the Blue Jackets a major shot in the arm on Tuesday night against the Bruins. That new line tallied 3-5-8 and generated 10 shots on goal in that 7-4 victory and I’m going to ride that hot hand again tonight. Carolina is one of the better defensive teams in the league, but that Columbus line is versatile, incredibly fast and strong on the forecheck.
Friday NHL Prediction: Columbus Blue Jackets -135
