Blackhawks shut out by Coyotes
Chicago fell by a 1-0 score Tuesday night at Arizona to drop to 33-33-10 on the season. The Coyotes broke a scoreless tie with 14:40 remaining in the third period and held on the rest of the way. The Blackhawks registered 31 shots on goal led by four each from Brendan Perlini, Brandon Saad, Jonathan Toews and Erik Gustafsson. Corey Crawford took the unlucky loss in net despite saving 28 out of 29 shots sent his way.
Sharks downed by Red Wings
San Jose suffered a 3-2 home loss to Detroit Monday night to fall to 43-24-9 on the season. The Sharks trailed 3-0 in the third period before Evander Kane put the hosts on the board with a power play goal, his 28th of the season, with 11:05 left in regulation. It was assisted by Joe Thornton and Tim Heed. Tomas Hertl made it a 3-2 game with five seconds remaining on his 33rd goal of the season, assisted by Timo Meier and Kevin Lablanc. Martin Jones surrendered three goals on 23 shots in the losing effort.
NHL Betting Trends
Chicago
The under is 4-0 in the last four Blackhawks games versus the Western Conference. The under is 4-1-1 in the last six Chicago games as a road underdog.
San Jose
The under is 4-1 in the last five Sharks games as a home favorite. The under is 3-1-1 in the last five games versus the Central Division.
Prediction:
Neither of these teams have been on top of their game offensively lately, but pair them against each other and there are bound to be goals scored. With the Blackhawks a mess defensively all season and Jones having a subpar season in goal for the Sharks, I don’t think either squad will be able to keep goals off the board. Look for this contest to shoot over the projected total.
