Colorado lost by a score of 2-1 at home Friday night against Dallas to drop ot 8-3-2 on the season. The Avalanche trailed 2-0 before Nathan MacKinnon scored on the power play midway through the second period, but the hosts could never find the equalizer. Cole Makar and Nazem Kadri assisted on the goal. Philipp Grubauer took the loss as he surrendered two goals on 29 shots.
Coyotes fall flat
Arizona fell by a score of 4-1 at home Wednesday night versus Montreal to fall to 7-4-1 on the season. The Coyotes trailed 3-0 in the third period until Jakob Chychrun put them on the board at the 15:13 mark with assists going to Phil Kessel and Alex Goligoski. The Canadiens added a goal later in the third to put it away. Antti Raanta allowed four goals on 36 shots in the defeat.

Colorado will be going with backup goalie Pavel Francouz, but he’s been pretty darn good in three games with a .926 goals-against average. With the Avs banged up, however, they have struggled and I think that continues here. Arizona is playing with a lot of confidence in the early season despite Wednesday’s result and will have its top goalie in Darcy Kuemper between the pipes. I think the Coyotes bottle up the Aves and get a win tonight.
