Blue Jackets vs. Islanders Prediction

Following a bounce back performance by Thomas Greiss in his last start, the Islanders shouldn’t have much trouble with the Blue Jackets tonight at 7:00PM ET.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Islanders are -210 money line favorites over the Blue Jackets, who have odds of +180 to pull off the upset. The over/under, meanwhile, sits at 5.5 goals.

After allowing six goals to Tampa Bay on 41 shots in his previous start, Greiss rebounded in a 2-1 shootout win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday night. He made 26-of-27 saves in the victory, which broke a four-game losing skid for the German goalie. He’s now 20-11-4 in 37 games this season.

Sergei Bobrovsky will start in between the pipes for Columbus, as both he and the Blue Jackets have had a year to forget. He made 36 saves on Monday night but the team still lost 4-1 to the Capitals in Washington. He’s 13-18-1 on the year and even when he makes a ton of saves, either his defense or his offense fails him in the process.

Even though the road team has won four of the last five games between these two teams, the Blue Jackets are winless against the Islanders in their last four games versus New York. They’re also 0-6 in their last six road games and have won just once in their last five games overall. The Islanders, meanwhile, are 8-2 in their last 10 home games so lay the 1.5 points.
