The Detroit Red Wings are appearing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 25th straight time, but do they have much chance to get by the Tampa Bay Lightning?
Tampa Bay is the second seed in the Atlantic region of the Eastern Conference Playoffs while the Red Wings are the third seed. Tampa has the home-ice advantage in the series. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Lightning are favored to win this series, as they have odds of -155 to win, while the Red Wings are getting odds of +135 to prevail.

Detroit was 41-30-11 on the season with a 22-13-6 home record and 19-17-5 record on the road. Tampa Bay was 46-31-5 overall with a 21-18-2 record on the road. These two met four times during the season, with the home team winning all four meetings. The Lightning finished with 11 goals in the four games while Detroit had just 8.
Scoring has been somewhat of an issue for Detroit, as they average just 2.55 per game while the Lightning put up 2.73 per game. Tampa had a +26 goal advantage for the year while the Wings were -13. Detroit also has some questions at goalie, as Jimmy Howard and Petr Mrazek have been swapped back-and-forth during the season. Tampa, on the other hand, has one of the top goalies in the league in Ben Bishop, who has a 2.06 GAA for the season.
