New Jersey Devils DFS Spin
Mackenzie Blackwood allowed four goals in Thursday’s 4-3 loss to the Washington Capitals. Blackwood’s stats will suffer after a tough night for the youngster, however he is not fully to blame for the loss despite only making 18 saves. Every goal was a high quality chance due to poor defensive coverage, however the Devils needed an extra save from Blackwood and he could not give it to them. The loss snaps a personal three-game win streak for the 24-year-old. Blackwood owns an 8-9-1 record with a 2.98 goals-against average and .904 save percentage.
Washington Capitals DFS Spin
Vitek Vanecek made 21 saves in Thursday’s 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils. While Vanecek picked up the win, he certainly did not make things easy on his teammates as he allowed some questionable goals. Just 1:23 into the game, he made an egregious blunder with the puck and Nick Merkley took advantage to give the Devils an early lead. Vanecek was also beat by a sharp-angle shot from Miles Wood in the second period. Thankfully the Capitals’ explosive offense was there to bail him out. The rookie goaltender owns a 14-5-3 record with a 2.67 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.
