Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 47 of 50 shots in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over the New York Rangers. Blackwood was as good as he was busy in this one. Two of the three goals he allowed to the Rangers on Tuesday were scored while New York was on the power play. The other came in the third period while his team was up by two goals. The 24-year-old has been terrific to start the 2021 season, as he now owns a 2-0-1 record through three appearances. He’ll head into his next start with 1.90 goals-against-average and a .948 save percentage. He needs to be picked up in all standard fantasy formats because he’s going to play in a lot of games in 2021.
New York Islanders DFS Spin
Semyon Varlamov backstopped the Islanders to a 1-0 victory against the Boston Bruins. Varlamov stopped all 27 shots from the Boston Bruins in the Islanders 1-0 victory on Monday. Varlamov now has shutouts in both of his starts this season. Varlamov is proving to his club he can be a solid starting goalie in the NHL after he split starts last season with now Detroit Red Wings goalie, Thomas Greiss. Fantasy GMs can assume that Varlamov will get the vast majority of starts this season and thus should rostered in most standard leagues.

The under is 14-6-4 in the last 24 meetings between these two teams and is 35-15-2 in the last 52 meetings in New York. The under is also 6-2 in the Devils’ last eight road games and has cashed in 10 of their last 14 games overall, while the under is 5-0-1 in the Islanders’ last six games overall and 5-2-2 in their last nine games when favored.
