Allen allows four goals in loss to Carolina
Jake Allen allowed four goals on 40 shots in Saturday’s 5-2 loss to Carolina. The fifth marker was an empty-netter. Allen conceded three goals at even strength and one on the power play. Ondrej Palat gave New Jersey a 2-1 lead early in the third period, but the Canes exploded with four goals to complete the comeback. Allen has surrendered at least three goals in three consecutive losses, and he hasn’t won a game since Nov. 23. New Jersey’s No. 2 netminder is sporting a 5-6-1 record, .900 save percentage and 2.89 GAA through 12 appearances this season.
Kopitar flips script in third period on Sunday
Anze Kopitar scored two goals, including one on the power play, in Sunday’s 5-4 win over the Flyers. Kopitar will be sad to be done with the Flyers this year — his last four goals have come over two matchups with the Broad Street Bullies. He went through a three-game slump between those contests. Kopitar is up to 12 tallies, including five game-winning goals, and 39 points over 36 appearances this season. The star center has added 46 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a plus-16 rating.
Devils vs. Kings Betting Trends:
The total has gone UNDER in 11 of New Jersey’s last 13 games
New Jersey is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Los Angeles
Los Angeles is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
Los Angeles is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games at home
Devils vs. Kings Betting Prediction
Take L.A. The Kings have been nearly unbeatable on home ice this season. Their overall record of 21-10-5 is impressive, but their 12-2-1 record on home ice leads me to backing Los Angeles this evening. The Kings have gone 19-0-2 in games that they score three or more goals. With Allen projected to start tonight for the Devils, I don’t see the Kings falling short of that 3-goal mark.
Devils vs. Kings Prediction: Los Angeles Kings -115
