Oilers skate past Bruins
Edmonton earned a 4-1 win Saturday at Boston to improve to 22-17-5 on the season. The Oilers trailed 1-0 through one period before tying it up at the 12:19 mark of the second period on an unassisted Gaetan Haas goal. Darnell Nurse gave Edmonton a 2-1 advantage with seven seconds left in the second off a Leon Draisaitl assist. Connor McDavid pushed it to 3-1 with 18:12 to play in the third period off assists from Zack Kassian and Ethan Bear. Draisaitl completed the scoring on an unassisted goal with seven seconds remaining. Mike Smith picked up the win as he registered 35 saves on 36 shots.
Maple Leafs stop Islanders
Toronto recorded a 3-0 shutout victory at home Saturday night over New York for its third straight win and 10th straight game earning a point. The Maple Leafs (24-14-5) opened the scoring with 6:35 left in the second period on a Pierre Engvall goal off a Kasperi Kaspanen assist. Auston Matthews pushed it to 2-0 with 3:53 in the period off assist by Mitch Marner and Justin Holl. Zach Hyman finished the scoring with 2:08 to go in the third period with assists courtesy of Marner and Matthews. Michael Hutchinson picked up the win between the pipes as he turned away all 33 shots sent his way.
