Jacob Markstrom allowed five goals on 35 shots in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Markstrom had a quiet first period until the final minute when Jeff Petry was able to squeak one through his frame and into the back of the net. Nick Suzuki also got a soft-ball past the 32-year-old in the second period to pull the Canadiens within a goal of the Flames’ lead (3-2). Markstrom didn’t fare much better in the third period and was visibly upset with himself at the end of the game. He owns a 25-11-6 record with a 2.17 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.

Cale Makar registered an assist in Thursday’s 2-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes. Makar fed the puck over to Devon Toews who snapped a beautiful shot past Karel Vejmelka at the 5:48 mark of the second period. Unfortunately for the Avalanche, Makar’s assist, which extended his point streak to 10 games, was the only positive on the night as it was the only goal they put past Karel Vejmelka. Makar has 18 goals and 41 assists through 51 games this season.
Flames vs. Avalanche Betting Prediction
The Flames have dropped six of their last seven games against the Avalanche, are 2-5 in their last seven games as an underdog and are winless at 0-5 in their last five games as a road pup. The Aves, meanwhile, are 43-8 in their last 51 home games, are 71-21 in their last 92 games as a favorite and are 39-12 in their last 51 games overall.
