Ilya Samsonov (COVID protocol) was on the ice for Monday’s practice. Samsonov hasn’t been ruled out yet for Tuesday’s game against Philadelphia, but it’s unclear at this time if he will return to action. He experienced symptoms of coronavirus when he was out and there is the question of conditioning after not being able to get on the ice for nearly three weeks. “I was on the ice for about an hour and 40 minutes, so it was a good practice,” Samsonov said through an interpreter. “Obviously, first time back out there presents some challenges, but overall I felt well.” Coach Peter Laviolette said it will be a combination of what the trainers and the doctors are saying along with how Samsonov feels before he gets the green light to return to the crease. Still, it’s good that he’s finally off the COVID protocol list.
