Philadelphia Flyers Fantasy Spin
Carter Hart will make the start in Sunday’s matinee road game on NBC against the New York Rangers. Hart stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced in Friday’s 5-2 win at home against the Rangers in the front end of the home-and-home. He enters with a 21-12-3 record, 2.49 goals-against average and .910 save percentage over his 39 appearances, and he streaks in with four consecutive victories. Hart is also 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .952 save percentage in two starts against the Blueshirts this season.
New York Rangers Fantasy Spin
Henrik Lundqvist hasn’t started in a game since Feb. 3rd. The Rangers aren’t planning on starting him Friday either, which is particularly telling. Alexandar Georgiev started on Thursday and Igor Shesterkin, but instead of taking this opportunity to put Lundqvist in net, Georgiev is starting for the second time in as many days. Lundqvist has a 10-11-3 record, 3.12 GAA, and .907 save percentage in 28 contests this season. Prior to 2019-20, he had never played in less than 43 games in a single season and that was back in the lockout shortened 2013 campaign. This could very well be Lundqvist’s final season with the Rangers, though the fact that he comes with a $8.5 million cap hit through 2020-21 complicates things.
Our Prediction
The over is 7-0-1 in the Flyers’ last eight games, is 6-0 in their last six meetings with Eastern Conference foes and is 9-3 in their last 12 games when their opponent scored two goals or less in its previous contest. On the other side, the over is 7-1 in the Rangers’ last eight games as a home underdog, is 5-1 in their last six games overall and is 12-3-1 in their last 16 games when facing an opponent with a winning record.
Sunday NHL Prediction: Flyers/Rangers OVER 6.5
