Carolina Hurricanes Fantasy Spin
James Reimer (lower body) will be sidelined for at least another week, per Hurricanes GM Don Waddell. Petr Mrazek (concussion) is believed to be seven-to-10 days away from a return and Reimer is expected to miss a little more than that. “Both making progress,” Waddell said. “Mrazek is ahead of Reimer. He’s starting to go on the ice and probably will start to see pucks in the next day or so. By the weekend, [Reimer] will be on the ice we believe and from there it’s just how fast he progresses.” Reimer has been out with a lower-body injury since Feb. 22.
Philadelphia Flyers Fantasy Spin
Brian Elliott stopped 25 of 27 shots in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals. Elliott got the start tonight, which means Carter Hart will likely be between the pipes against Carolina tomorrow. The Caps scored the first goal of the game, but Elliott’s teammates responded by spotting him a 3-1 lead. The Flyers have now won eight games in a row and they’re just one point behind Washington for first place in the Metropolitan Division. Elliott owns a 16-7-4 record with a 2.87 goals-against-average and a .900 save percentage this season.
Our Prediction
After cashing the over last night with the Flyers (who were in Washington to play the Capitals), I’m going back to the well with Philly tonight. The Flyers have been an over-cashing machine of late. The over is 12-3-1 in their last 16 games overall, is 21-8-1 in their last 30 games versus Eastern Conference and is 7-0-1 in their last eight games coming off a win. On the other side, the over is 10-4 in the Hurricanes’ last 14 games overall and is 5-2 in their last seven road games. Finally, the over is also 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams and is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Philly.
