In a Stanley Cup Finals rematch last night, the Golden Knights lost handily by a 5-2 score at Washington. Las Vegas trailed the rest of the game after going down 1-0 with 35 seconds remaining in the first period. Cody Eakin scored an unassisted goal to bring the Golden Knights within a 2-1 score late in the second period. Reilly Smith scored in the third period to pull Las Vegas within 3-2 on assists from Nick Holden and William Karlsson. Washington put it away with a pair of goals over the final 10 minutes. Marc-Andre Fleury surrendered four goals on 28 shots to take the loss.
Penguins fall to Canadiens
Pittsburgh dropped to 1-1-0 on the season Saturday with a 5-1 defeat at home against Montreal. Riley Sheahan scored the lone goal for the Penguins as he made it a 4-1 game late in the second period. Kris Letang and Daniel Sprong assisted on the score. Matt Murray allowed five goals on 29 shots in the losing effort.
