Game 3, Stanley Cup Final
Tampa Bay Lightning DFS Spin
Andrei Vasilevskiy turned aside 27 of 29 shots in Monday’s 3-2 win over Dallas in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Vasilevskiy turned in a much more solid performance in Game 2 than he did in Game 1, but the fact that his team scored three first-period goals (two on the power play) definitely helped. The 26-year-old has given up two goals or fewer in four his last five outings. He has a 15-6 record with a 1.88 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage this postseason. The Lightning will look to take a 2-1 lead over Dallas in Game 3 on Wednesday night.
Dallas Stars DFS Spin
Anton Khudobin allowed three goals on 31 shots in Monday’s 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. It’s hard to fault Khudobin for tonight’s loss because the three Lightning goals weren’t really his fault. The first two goals, which were scored by Brayden Point and Ondrej Palat, were scored while the Bolts were on the power play. The third first-period goal, which was scored by Kevin Shattenkirk, came off a soft shot from the point that Khudobin never saw. The Stars managed to push back in the second frame, but they ended up falling just short. The veteran netminder’s four-game win streak is officially over. The 34-year-old has a 13-7 record with a 2.57 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage this postseason. This best-of-seven series is all tied up, 1-1.
Lightning vs. Stars Game 3 Prediction
I like Dallas to rebound with a victory tonight. The Stars are 4-1 in their last five games overall, are 11-4 in their last 15 games playing on one day of rest and are 9-1 in their last 10 games when their opponent allows two goals or less in its previous contest. I could see their defense and goaltending forcing a Game 7 eventually and this is one of those games when I’m taking my shot on the underdog.
