Canadiens fall to Avs
Montreal lost 3-2 Thursday night at home against Colorado to drop to 12-11-6 on the season. The Canadiens trailed 3-0 in the second period before Brendan Gallagher scored at the 2:18 mark off an assist from Phillip Danault. Nick Cousins scored on the power play with 18:37 left in the third period on an assist courtesy of Max Domi, but Montreal was unable to find the equalizer. Cayden Primeau surrendered three goals on 35 shots in the defeat.
Rangers edge Blue Jackets
New York secured a 3-2 victory Thursday night at Columbus to improve to 14-10-3 on the season. Brendan Lemieux evened the score at 1-1 for the Rangers with eight seconds remaining in the first period off assists by Mika Zibanejad and Kaapo Kakko. Jacob Trouba gave New York a 2-1 advantage with 14:14 to play in the second period with assists going to Adam Fox and Ryan Strome. Artemi Panarin made it 3-1 with 4:28 to play in the second on assists by Tony DeAngelo and Brett Howden. The Blue Jackets pulled within goal 3:33 into the third period, but the Rangers held on from there. Alexandar Georgiev picked up the win as he gave up two goals on 47 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
Montreal
The Canadiens are 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games. Montreal is 8-21 in its last 29 games on no days of rest.
New York
The Rangers are 4-1 in their last five home games. New York is 1-5 in its last six games versus the Atlantic Division.
Prediction:
The Rangers have been the better team as of late and will have top goalie Henrik Lundqvist between the pipes for this contest. Both teams played last night so there is no advantage there, but New York has won four of its last five games on no days of rest which is far better than how the Canadiens have performed when fatigued. Carey Price and the Montreal defense have been shaky as of late and I see the Rangers taking advantage.
