LINE MOVEMENT

Colorado opened as a -150 favorite before the line came down a bit, while the total opened at 5.5 before going up to 6. Colorado can be found between a -130 and -140 favorite at various sportsbooks, while Philadelphia ranges from a +110 to a +125 underdog.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of Wednesday afternoon, 69 percent of public bets have sided with the Avalanche. Online wager info also says that 57 percent of bets are being placed on the over.

INJURY TO WATCH

Flyers defenseman Johnny Oduya (lower body) is out indefinitely. Left winger Michael Raffl (upper body) and goalie Brian Elliott (abdominal) are out until early April. Goalie Michal Neuvirth (lower body) is questionable. For Colorado, four players are questionable – goaltender Semyon Varlamov (llness), right winger Sven Andrighetto (lower body), goalie Jonathan Bernier (infection) and center Colin Wilson (lower body). Defenseman Mark Barberio (lower body) is out indefinitely.

BETTING STRATEGY

Colorado’s starting goalie in Varlamov is sick at a terrible time as his squad is one point behind in the Wild Card chase. Perhaps he plays through his illness, but it’s hard to imagine he would be on top of his game unless it’s something very minor. And if it is very minor, he probably wouldn’t be listed as questionable. I’m going to go the safer route with the Flyers as an underdog as they lead the Eastern Conference Wild Card chase and have less pressure with the cushion they have established.
