The Pittsburgh Penguins remain the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Here’s an update on those conference’s odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Penguins are 7/2 favorites to win the Eastern Conference this upcoming NHL season. The Lightning, Maple Leafs and Capitals all have the next-best odds to win the Eastern Conference at 6/1, respectively.

Continuing with the odds, the Canadiens and Rangers are both 8/1, respectively, followed by the Blue Jackets at 12/1. The Bruins and Senators, meanwhile, are 15/1, respectively, followed by the Sabres, Panthers, Islanders and Flyers at 25/1, respectively. The Hurricanes are 35/1.
The teams with the longest odds to win the Eastern Conference are the rebuilding Red Wings and Devils, who are 100/1, respectively.

Mike Sullivan’s Penguins are coming off back-to-back Eastern Conference titles and back-to-back Stanley Cup championships. The last team to win the Eastern Conference that wasn’t Pittsburgh was Tampa Bay in 2015. The Lightning fell to the Blackhawks in six games in the Stanley Cup that year.
In fact, the Penguins ended a streak of six years where the Eastern Conference sent different teams to the Stanley Cup. The last team to win back-to-back Eastern Conference titles before the Penguins did it in 2016 and 2017? Well, naturally, that would be Pittsburgh, which also accomplished the feat in 2008 and 2009.
