According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Washington Capitals are 3/2 favorites to win the Eastern Conference Playoffs this year while other short odds are the Pittsburgh Penguins (9/2), the New York Rangers (7/1) and the Florida Panthers (8/1).

The Capitals had the top record in the NHL this season, going 56-18-8 for 120 points. Washington meets Philadelphia in the opening round. The Capitals are seeking their second conference title, with the first coming in 1998.

The Penguins went 48-26-8 on the season for 104 points, the second most in the East. Pittsburgh faces New York in the first round. Pittsburgh has won four conference titles, the last of which came in 2009.

The Rangers were 46-27-9 this season for 101 points, which put New York fourth in the East. New York has won the conference title two times, with the last coming in 2014.

The Panthers were 47-26-9 this season for 103 points, which was third-most in the East, but enough to win its division. Florida faces the Islanders in the opening round. Florida has only won the conference title one time, which came in 1996.
