Monday NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There are only two games on the NHL schedule Monday night but they are both quality contests, one of which is out west as the Los Angeles Kings host the Detroit Red Wings.
The battle between Detroit (38-18-6) and Los Angeles (35-23-4) features two squads firmly entrenched in the Western Conference playoffs if the season were to end today as the Red Wings are the second-best team in the conference, while the Kings are fifth-best. Action begins at 10:30PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have listed the Kings as -125 favorites, while the over-under is set at 5.5. According to the latest trends, the Red Wings are 33-29-0 on over-unders this seasons and Los Angeles is 23-37-2 ATS.
Detroit topped host Buffalo 3-2 on Saturday which ended a two-game losing streak, both of which were lost by the Red Wings at home as they fell to San Jose and Dallas. The Kings have played impressive hockey as of late with victories over Anaheim, Minnesota, and Colorado in their last three outings.
Anze Kopitar highlights Los Angeles offensively as he has totaled 20 goals and 40 assists. Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg leads the Red Wings with 18 goals and 49 assists.
The only other NHL game on the schedule Monday matches the Chicago Blackhawks at the Minnesota Wild at 8:00PM EST on Versus. Chicago is a -125 favorite and the over-under is 5.5.
