Friday NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) -There are eight games on Friday night’s NHL schedule, one of which is a Western Conference battle between playoff hopefuls as the Dallas Stars host the Minnesota Wild.
Dallas begins play Friday with a 36-23-8 record and is the seventh seed in the Western Conference with 80 points. The Stars are 18-9-6 in home games this season. Minnesota has a record of 35-26-7 and has 77 points, 11th in the conference but just two points out of the final playoff spot. The Wild are 18-13-3 on the road. Play begins at 8:30PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Stars -155 favorites, while the over-under is set at 5.5. According to the latest trends, Dallas is 8-2 against the spread versus Minnesota over the last three seasons. Six of the past nine games in this series have gone over the the total the last three seasons. The Wild are 9-5 in road games revenging a home loss versus opponent this season.
Dallas is 5-3-2 in its last 10 games and is coming off a 4-3 overtime loss Wednesday to Calgary. Minnesota has a 4-4-2 mark in its last 10 and was defeated 4-0 Thursday at Nashville.
Martin Havlat leads the Wild with 21 goals and 38 assists, while Mikko Koivu has tallied 15 goals and 34 assists. Brad Richards paces Dallas with 24 goals and 39 assists.
Other NHL games Friday include the Columbus Blue Jackets hosting the Los Angeles Kings at 7:00PM EST. The Kings are -120 favorites and the over-under is 5. The New Jersey Devils travel to the Atlanta Thrashers for a 7:30PM EST start. New Jersey is listed as a -135 favorite with an over-under of 5. The Detroit Red Wings are home to face the Edmonton Oilers. Detroit is a large favorite of -280 and the over-under is 5.5.
