The featured game of the day has the Dallas Stars hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins at 8:30PM ET. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Stars are the slim favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -110 to win, while the Penguins are getting a money line of +100 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 5.5 goals. Dallas fell shy of the playoffs last year but have some high expectations for this season. Pittsburgh had a disappointing year last year as well, losing in the opening round of the playoffs to the Rangers. Dallas has won three of its last four against Pittsburgh and the two have hit the under in three of their last four meetings.

Another game of note today has the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:30PM ET. Oddsmakers have Tampa as the favorite in this game, as the Lightning are getting odds of -185 to win, while the Flyers are getting odds of +170 to prevail. The over/under total has been set at 5.5 runs. Philadelphia missed out of the playoffs last season while the Lightning won the Eastern Conference and lost to the Blackhawks in six games in the Stanley Cup Final. The Lightning have won eight of their last 10 against the Flyers and the two have hit the over in five of their last six meetings.

The final game of note has the Colorado Avalanche hosting the Minnesota Wild at 9PM ET. Oddsmakers have the Wild as a -115 favorite on the road, while the Avalanche are getting odds of +105 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 5 goals. Minnesota reached the Western Conference semifinals last season while Colorado fell shy of the playoffs. Minnesota has won eight of its last 10 against the Avs and the two have pushed or hit the under in five straight meetings.
