In what has turned out to be the series of the first round, the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks have erased a 3-0 series deficit and are now one victory away from finishing off the Vancouver Canucks.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Canucks –166 on the money line against the visiting Blackhawks, who are +153 on the ML. The over/under total for this game has opened at 5.5 goals.
Vancouver took Game 1 of the series 2-0 and then beat Chicago 4-3 in Game 2 before hitting the road. The Canucks won their first road game of the series (3-2 in Game 3) before dropping Game 4, 7-2. From there, they were shutout 5-0 in Game 5 and lost Game 6 in overtime when Ben Smith scored the game-winning goal to give Chicago a 4-3 victory.
Tonight will be for all the marbles. The opening puck will drop at 10:00PM ET.
In another surprising series, the seventh-seeded Buffalo Sabres have given the Philadelphia Flyers all they can handle in Round 1. The Sabres beat the Flyers 1-0 in Game 1 before dropping their next two games. They came back in Game 4 with another 1-0 victory to even the series, then won on the road in Game 5 with a 4-3 victory in overtime.
But Buffalo couldn’t finish the Flyers off in Game 6 and now Tuesday night’s Game 7 will decide the series winner. According to latest NHL trends, the Sabres are 1-5 in Game 7s and have lost all four attempts on the road.
In the third and final NHL game tonight, the Montreal Canadiens are –106 on the money line against the Boston Bruins, who are –102. With a win tonight, Boston will advance to the second round.
