LINE MOVEMENT

The moneyline and the total are right in line with where they opened. Minnesota can be found as low as a -185 favorite and as high as -210 at various books, while the Red Wings are anywhere from +160 to +175. The total is 5.5 goals anywhere you look.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of Sunday afternoon, 87 percent of bets are pouring in on the Wild. Online wager info also states that 68 percent of bets are on the over.

INJURY TO WATCH

Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson is questionable today with an illness. The Wild do not have anyone listed on their injury report.

BETTING STRATEGY

It’s hard not to love Minnesota in this spot, but the line is so huge it’s a matter of deciding on the puck line (-1.5, +150) or turning our attention to the over-under. Detroit is 27th in the NHL in goals per game (2.6) and have not scored more than three goals in its last 10 contests. Also gone is goal scorer Tomas Tatar, traded at the deadline to Las Vegas. Jimmy Howard is capable of standing on his head at any given time and lift his squad to competitiveness if not unlikely wins. I expect the Red Wings will have a lot of trouble solving Minnesota goalie Devan Dubnyk, but look for Howard to battle him shot for shot. This one sets up nicely to be a low-scoring affair.
